Ste. Genevieve County tax waivers start with the Assessor

Ste. Genevieve County says a personal-property tax waiver begins in the Assessor's Office before the Collector verifies and distributes it.

A Ste. Genevieve County tax waiver is not the same errand as paying a tax bill. The county Collector page says a Certificate of No Assessment of Tangible Property, often called a tax waiver, begins in the Assessor’s Office. It is then forwarded to the Collector’s office for verification and distribution.

That split matters for vehicle paperwork. Missouri plate renewal can send a driver looking for a paid personal-property tax receipt or a statement showing no assessment was due. If the tax never existed for that year, the Assessor side of the courthouse is the starting point.

For a newcomer, a new vehicle owner, or someone who moved counties, ask which document fits your year before waiting in a license-office line. In Ste. Genevieve County, the Collector page gives the route: Assessor for the waiver, then Collector for verification and distribution.
