Felix Valle House is a state historic-site layer in Ste. Genevieve
Felix Valle House State Historic Site adds a Missouri State Parks layer to Ste. Genevieve's French and post-Louisiana Purchase story.
Ste. Genevieve’s history is not handled by one source or one agency. Felix Valle House State Historic Site is a Missouri State Parks site in the middle of that older town story.
Missouri State Parks says the American-Federal style Valle house was built in 1818 and is furnished in the style of the 1830s. The site interprets the American influence on Ste. Genevieve’s French community after the Louisiana Purchase.
That makes the site useful local color for residents and visitors. It points to a different layer than the county courthouse, the National Park Service, or a private house tour. If you are trying to understand why Ste. Genevieve looks and feels different from many Missouri county seats, use the State Parks page for the Felix Valle interpretation and current visit details.
