Pleasant Hill anchors Cass County on the Rock Island Trail
Rock Island Trail State Park gives Cass County a developed rail-trail connection from Pleasant Hill toward Windsor and the wider Katy Trail system.
Cass County’s trail story is not only suburban sidewalks and local parks. Missouri State Parks says Rock Island Trail State Park includes 47.5 miles of developed trail extending from Pleasant Hill to Windsor along the former Rock Island corridor.
That makes Pleasant Hill a real trail anchor for the county. A resident or visitor can think of it as a rail-trail gateway on the southeast side of the Kansas City region, not just a small town on the edge of the metro. The trail also helps explain why Pleasant Hill’s rail history still matters on the map.
Before planning a long ride, check Missouri State Parks for current trailheads, closures, services, and which portions are developed. The developed Pleasant Hill-to-Windsor segment is the official starting point for this note.
