St. Charles County assessment appeals have a BOE step
A St. Charles County property value dispute must move through the Board of Equalization before the State Tax Commission path.
In St. Charles County, a property value disagreement is not solved at the payment window. The county’s appeal page routes value disputes through the Board of Equalization after the assessor step, with BOE members meeting in July and August to resolve disputes between taxpayers and the Assessor’s Office.
That BOE step matters because the county warns that failing to file with the BOE can block a later appeal to the Missouri State Tax Commission, except for certain newly purchased property situations.
For a homeowner, the useful move is to gather value evidence early, watch the current filing deadline, and keep the issue focused on market value or classification. The Collector sends and collects the bill, but the value appeal belongs on the assessor and BOE track.
