Frohna keeps Perry County's Saxon Lutheran settlement story visible

Saxon Lutheran Memorial in Frohna gives Perry County a place-specific settlement story.

Perry County’s east side is not only Perryville and the Mississippi. Saxon Lutheran Memorial says its story starts with the 1839 Saxon immigration, when German Lutherans settled in what is now Frohna.

The memorial page says local Lutherans and community members restored original log buildings from that era and moved them to the site. It says the memorial opened to the public in 1964. The State Historical Society of Missouri’s Perry County place-name collection adds context for German-named settlements in the county.

That gives Frohna and Altenburg a durable place note. For family-history readers, visitors, and local residents, it is a county identity layer with a specific institution and source trail.
