Mercer County tax questions split between assessor and collector

Mercer County residents should route value, receipt, and non-assessment questions to the right courthouse office in Princeton.

Mercer County is small enough that many county offices share one Princeton address, but the tax jobs are still different. The Missouri Association of Counties lists the Mercer County Assessor at 802 E Main Street in Princeton and also lists the Treasurer/Ex-Officio Collector at that address.

The Missouri State Tax Commission gives the functional split. A property tax receipt comes from the county collector where the property is located and the taxes were paid. A waiver, or statement of non-assessment, comes from the assessor if you did not own or possess taxable personal property as of January 1.

That keeps the errand focused. Ask the assessor about assessment or non-assessment. Ask the collector side about paid receipts and tax collection.
