Lafayette County Recorder of Deeds provides public access to real estate and marriage records in the office and maintains records under Missouri law.
Lexington is the local starting point for many Lafayette County deed questions. The Recorder of Deeds keeps the recorded-document side of the house: real estate transactions, deeds, tax liens, fixture filings, marriage records, and military service records.
That is different from the assessor’s parcel value or the collector’s tax receipt. Public view stations are available in the recorder’s office at no charge, and internet access is handled by contract. A buyer, heir, title helper, or local researcher may need that office path when a quick online look does not answer the whole question.
Use the recorder when the job is a recorded document or certified copy. Use the assessor or collector after the question turns into value, account details, taxes due, or proof that a bill was paid.
