Clinton is the western trailhead of the Katy Trail
Katy Trail State Park, Missouri's cross-state rail-trail, has its western trailhead at Clinton, which makes Henry County the starting or ending point for one of the state's signature long-distance trails
Katy Trail State Park is a long-distance rail-trail built on the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas (the Katy) railroad corridor, and its western trailhead sits at Clinton in Henry County. For Clinton that means being the bookend of a cross-state trail: cyclists and walkers either start a multi-day ride east toward the Missouri River and beyond, or finish one here. The trailhead brings trail tourism, and it gives local residents direct access to a flat, scenic route maintained by Missouri State Parks. Missouri State Parks is the authoritative source for the trail’s official western terminus, the trailhead location and amenities, and current conditions. Treat any specific mileage or open/closed segment as something to confirm there before relying on it.
