Callaway County plate paperwork starts with a receipt or waiver
Callaway County's FAQ tells drivers to obtain a paid personal property tax receipt from the Collector or a tax waiver from the Assessor when licensing a car.
At 354 Country Meadows Lane in Fulton, the license-office trip works only after the tax piece is clear. For Callaway County drivers, that means a paid personal property tax receipt from the Collector or a tax waiver from the Assessor.
A waiver is for someone who did not own a vehicle on Jan. 1 of the current year or lived in another state. Proof of insurance and renewal or purchase papers still ride along with the errand. Missouri renewal paperwork uses the same split: personal property tax proof from the county of residence or a statement of non-assessment.
Treat the Collector and Assessor as two different doors. Paid tax receipt questions belong at the Collector; non-assessment waiver questions start with the Assessor, before the license counter gets involved.
