Plate renewal can use electronic County tax proof
St. Louis County says paper personal-property receipts are no longer always needed at the Missouri DMV, but the taxes still need to show paid.
At a St. Louis County plate-renewal errand, the key question is not always, “Did I print the receipt?” It is, “Can the paid personal property tax be shown?” Paper receipts are no longer always needed for license plate renewal or registration when the paid taxes can be verified electronically.
The tax rule did not disappear. Missouri vehicle paperwork still turns on proof of paid personal property tax, or a statement of non-assessment when that is the right document. The electronic lookup only changes how the proof can travel.
Before going to the license office, check the County tax account and make sure the needed tax year is marked paid. Print or save the receipt for your own file if you want a backup, especially after a recent payment.
