River des Peres Greenway links parks and city edges
The River des Peres Greenway plan connects south St. Louis parks, neighborhoods, and the city-county edge between Forest Park and the Mississippi River.
River des Peres is both infrastructure and public-space geography in south St. Louis. Great Rivers Greenway says the River des Peres Greenway plan calls for a continuous corridor between Forest Park and the Mississippi River, linking other greenways and connecting St. Louis City and St. Louis County. The City parks page for River Des Peres Park places that park along the city-county border.
For a resident, this helps explain why the south-city edge can feel like a chain of parks, channels, trails, roads, and jurisdiction lines.
Use Great Rivers Greenway for the greenway plan and City Parks for City-owned park details. Do not treat every path, bridge, and drainage feature as the same agency’s responsibility.
