City land records live with the Recorder

The City Recorder handles deeds, liens, subdivision plats, and other land records; the Assessor's property record is a different lookup.

St. Louis City keeps land-record work under its Recorder of Deeds and Vital Records Registrar. The Land Records Department receives and maintains real estate-related documents for land in the City, including deeds, liens, affidavits, court orders, and subdivision plats.

That is not the same thing as the Assessor’s property-value record or the Collector’s tax account. For a homeowner, buyer, or title question, the practical distinction is simple: use the Recorder for recorded documents, use the Assessor for assessed property information, and use the Collector for tax bills and receipts.
