Crowder College makes Neosho a regional campus town

Crowder College's main campus is in Neosho, giving Newton County a community-college anchor that serves a wider southwest Missouri region.

Neosho is not only Newton County’s courthouse town. Crowder College gives it a regional education anchor. The college says its main campus is in Neosho and that it was established in 1963 as the Community College of Newton and McDonald counties. Today it serves a nine-county region in southwest Missouri.

For a resident, buyer, or employer, that matters because the county has a local pipeline for transfer degrees, career programs, workforce training, and campus services. Crowder’s Neosho campus sits south of town on Highway 59 and Route D, so it also shapes the daily traffic and identity of that side of the county.

When comparing Newton County communities, keep this layer in mind. Neosho is the county seat, a fish-hatchery town, and a college town in the same local map.
