Hite Prairie puts prairie remnant color beside Versailles

Hite Prairie Conservation Area is a small MDC prairie area just off the Versailles edge, giving Morgan County more than lake-and-hill identity.

Near Versailles, Hite Prairie adds a different outdoor texture to Morgan County.

The county often gets read through Lake of the Ozarks, county roads, and rural property errands. Hite Prairie gives the place another layer: a small prairie conservation area close to the courthouse town.

That is useful color because not every public outdoor place in the county is a boat ramp, cove, forest road, or private pasture edge. A prairie remnant changes the way the local landscape reads, especially for someone trying to understand what is public, what is private, and what is managed for conservation.

Use the MDC place page and map for access, boundaries, and area rules before treating open land near Versailles as open to use.
