County road questions go to the Marion County Highway Department

Marion County's Highway Department handles county roads, bridges, snow and ice control, culverts, and driveway pipe installation.

A culvert or bridge problem on a Marion County road is not automatically a city issue or a MoDOT issue. The county Highway Department maintains county roads and bridges, and its work includes snow removal, ice control, culvert pipe replacement, and driveway pipe installation.

Start by naming who owns or maintains the road. A county road points toward the Highway Department. A numbered or lettered state route points toward MoDOT. A street inside Hannibal or Palmyra may belong to the city. A private lane may not belong to a public road office at all.

Rural driveways, gravel roads, and bridge approaches all depend on that road layer. The fix may be simple once the layer is clear, but the wrong office can only send you around the loop. Name the road, identify the maintenance layer, then take the culvert, driveway pipe, snow, ice, or bridge question to that office.
