County-road work can require the highway permit counter

Jasper County Highway lists driveway and utility work permits, so work in county road right-of-way should start with that office.

Not every driveway or utility question is just a contractor detail. Jasper County’s Highway Department page lists a driveway permit, a utility work permit, road-condition links, maps, and county road contacts. It also says the department maintains roads, bridges, culverts, and 911 signs within the county common district.

For a landowner, the practical job is to check the road layer before cutting a new drive, working near a county road, or assuming a city or state office owns the answer. Some roads may belong to a special road district, a city, MoDOT, or a private owner.

Start with the Highway Department page when the work touches a county road or right-of-way. It is easier to ask first than to rebuild a driveway entrance after the wrong standard was used.
