County lakes and campgrounds have county park rules

Lake Jacomo, Blue Springs Lake, and Longview Lake sit in the county park system, so reservations and recreation rules start with Jackson County Parks and Rec.

Lake Jacomo, Blue Springs Lake, and Longview Lake sit in Jackson County’s own park system east and south of Kansas City. They are public outdoor places, but they are not Missouri State Parks.

That county layer shapes the ordinary details of a weekend: campground registration, shelters, lake rules, and who answers local recreation questions. The campground route runs through Jackson County Parks and Rec for Lake Jacomo, Longview Lake, and Blue Springs campgrounds, with same-day details handled by the campgrounds themselves.

A new resident can save time by sorting the layers first. Jackson County Parks and Rec is the home base for county park reservations and local park rules. State boating, fishing, or permit rules may still apply to the activity, but they do not replace the county park system that manages these lakes.
