Fishing and conservation access around Stockton Lake in Dade County

The Dade County end of Stockton Lake offers public fishing and boating access, and the rules, permits, and access points are managed by the Department of Conservation rather than assumed from private lake norms

Stockton Lake reaches into Dade County. The public side of the lake has its own rules. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), the state agency for fishing and wildlife, manages fishing here. It also runs public spots where you can put in a boat or fish from the bank. To fish, you need a Missouri fishing permit. You must follow both the statewide rules and the rules made just for this lake.

If you are new to the area, a good habit is to look things up first. Find out which spots serve the north end. Check what fish you can keep and how many. See if any special rules cover a stretch of water. Do not guess the rules from another lake.

Some land is run by the Conservation Department. Other shoreline is run by the Corps of Engineers, and some is state park land. So it helps to know which agency runs the spot you want to use. Before your trip, confirm the current spots, permits, and limits with the Department of Conservation. Treat any boat ramp problem or closure as something to check fresh.
