Central Missouri / Missouri River Corridor
Cooper County's official map is more than Boonville
Cooper County's own overview names a web of small communities around Boonville, including Blackwater, Otterville, Pilot Grove, Prairie Home, Bunceton, Wooldridge, and Lamine.
Boonville is the county seat and largest community, but Cooper County’s official overview makes clear that the county page should not stop there. The county names Blackwater, Otterville, Pilot Grove, Prairie Home, Bunceton, the Village of Windsor, Wooldridge, Clifton City, Speed, Pisgah, and Lamine as other communities in the county.
The same county overview notes that some communities were shaped by floods and changes in rail travel. It also describes much of Cooper County as prime agricultural land and points to the Katy Trail as a way to see the county’s beauty.
This is color in a civic-geography sense. It helps a reader see Cooper County as a river-corridor county with a network of small places, not just Boonville plus rural space.
