Kemper's old campus still shapes Boonville's historic map

The Kemper Military School Historic District keeps a former Boonville campus visible in Cooper County's National Register landscape.

Boonville’s history includes more than the river, the Katy Trail, and Civil War markers. Missouri State Parks’ Cooper County National Register page lists the Kemper Military School Historic District in Boonville.

Missouri DNR’s Historic Preservation Council notice describes the Kemper Military District as part of the Historic Resources of Boonville, Missouri multiple-resource area. The DNR notice places it roughly bounded by Vine Street, Third Street, Spruce Street, and the Katy Trail in Boonville.

For a Cooper County page, this is useful color because it ties a former school campus to a real neighborhood edge. It also shows how Boonville’s historic map is layered: river town, county seat, trail town, and old campus town.
