Callaway County assessor field crews should be identifiable

Callaway County's Assessor says field crews use marked vehicles, safety vests, body cameras, and county IDs while collecting exterior property data.

A marked vehicle in the driveway and a vest at the door should still come with clear identification. Callaway County assessor field crews use marked vehicles, safety vests with body cameras, and county IDs while collecting exterior property data.

Crews may knock to explain who they are and why they are there. They may ask about the inside of a home, such as a finished basement or bathroom count, but the access line is important: they do not ask to come inside. Photos and measurements are taken from outside.

If the person at the property does not match that description, pause the conversation. Call the Assessor’s real estate department before sharing information or letting the visit continue.
