St. Joseph uses both citywide and district council seats

St. Joseph's council map gives the city a civic geography of at-large representation plus five council districts.

St. Joseph has its own civic map inside Buchanan County. The city council map divides town into five council districts, while at-large seats cover the whole city.

That setup gives residents two layers to keep straight. A street issue, building question, transit route, or city ordinance may belong to St. Joseph city government even though the address is also in Buchanan County. The district map helps you see whether your part of town has a specific district seat in addition to citywide representation.

Use the map before assuming every council contact represents the same geography. For county business, start with Buchanan County. For a St. Joseph ordinance, agenda, department, or ward-style question, start with the city.
