Flat Creek has official access points in Barry County

MDC access areas on Flat Creek give Barry County a local public-water layer beyond Roaring River and Table Rock Lake.

Flat Creek gives Barry County a quieter public-water layer alongside the larger Roaring River and Table Rock names. Lower Flat Creek Access was bought in 1968 to provide access to the creek, with bank fishing and canoe or kayak launching. Stubblefield Access was bought in 1976 and has a parking lot and gravel boat ramp.

Those two MDC areas are small, but the difference matters on the ground. A creek crossing, a pretty bank, and a public access are not the same thing. Lower Flat Creek starts from the Highway 39 and Route EE junction, then east on Route EE. Stubblefield starts from Highways 39 and 248, then west on 248 and north on Farm Road 1195.

Use the named MDC access, not just the creek name, when planning a short fishing stop or launch.
